Renewals and subscriptions continue
through February

TVS membership renewals and applications for 2001 will remain as they are shown on the final page of each newsletter. Later this year, the board will discuss alternative membership levels. The board is considering adding a Lifetime membership level, as well as additional levels between Patron and Lifetime.

The club continues to offer discounted subscriptions to your favorite astronomy magazines during the renewal period. A year of Sky & Telescope can be yours for $29.95, and you can enjoy 12 issues of Astronomy for $29.00. In both cases, your subscription should be marked on the membership/renewal application on page 6. Both subscription offers end with the February 2001 general meeting.

Observing publications offered for sale

TVS has received copies of three publications designed to enhance your 2001 viewing. At the January 12 general meeting, we will begin selling copies of the
Observer's Handbook 2001 at $13 each, Beginner's Observing Guide, at $13, and Observer's Calendar 2001, at $10 apiece. Quantities of each are
limited, and purchases must be made in person at a general meeting.

Meeting dates change yet again -- mark your calendars for the 2nd Fridays

Just when you thought it was safe to write TVS dates in ink, are you in for a surprise! The 2001 calendar has been completely reset, with club general meetings slated for the
second Friday of each month.

Please refer to the table in the next column for the new general meeting dates, planning meeting dates, and
Prime Focus deadlines. You will notice that the newsletter deadline is now standardized as the 15th of each month.  Now that the general meetings occur earlier, we will attempt to have the newsletter in your hands by the first Monday of each month.

More updates to follow in
February
Prime Focus

Our new loaner scope and equipment coordinator is John Swenson, and we will have more news on this club benefit next month. Additionally, we will publish updates on the logowear "rewards" program that will allow members to earn polo shirts, sweatshirts, and observing jackets emblazoned with the club name and logo. This month's deadline crunch prevented us from publishing a longer newsletter.
