School star parties

Closing the books on 2000
At the December 18 planning meeting, treasurer Mike Anderson reported our financial standing as follows.
Checking $2,257.07
CD #1 $3,695.07 matures 2/17/01
CD #2 $2,847.60 matures 1/6/01
CD #3 $2,282.03 matures 2/27/01
CD #2 holds the club's dark sky site key deposits against claim by members who surrender keys. Additionally, renewal memberships are increasing our checking account, and our assets will be reduced by the cost of printing the January newsletter.
Star party dates now in negotiation
At the December planning meeting, the board selected optimum dates for the Yosemite/Glacier Point and White Mountains star parties. We have requested the following weekends as our first, second, and third choices for Yosemite: August 17-19; July 19-21; and June 22-24. The preferred White Mountains weekend is July 19-21. Of course, these dates are subject to negotiation with the host sites. We'll keep you aprised of the final dates once TVS has been notified.
