Club News and Notes


   All TVS star parties are posted to our web site. To spread the work load a bit more evenly, the board has decided to separate school star parties from public ones. For public star parties, including those conducted in coordination with Livermore Area Recreation and Parks District (LARPD), contact  Phil Waide at 925/ 455-6039 to be put on his distribution list.

   School star parties are typically very popular after the holidays. If you are interested in introducing young people to the sky, please consider serving as the school star party coordinator. This position involves about six hours a month of coordination with other TVS members. At present, Dave Anderson has added this responsibility to his many presidential duties. Call him to discuss what the job entails, or to nominate yourself or another member to help with the school program.

Renewals are in the air

   Now that the holidays are behind you, what's your excuse for not renewing your TVS membership? The annual questionnaire and renewal form share the final two pages of this newsletter. Please separate them from the pages you wish to keep, complete the questionnaire and renewal information, attach your check, and mail the lot to: Tri-Valley Stargazers, P.O. Box 2476, Livermore, CA 94551.

   If you prefer paying in person, or using cash, feel free to do so at the January 21 general meeting. Treasurer Mike Anderson will be happy to accept your paperwork, and many board members will be present to answer any questions.


Coin collecting

   As membership renewals arrive, the condition of our checkbook improves daily. Mike Anderson presented the most recent verified total to the board on December 20, 1999. It showed:

  CD #1        $3,521.35 matures 2/17/00
  CD #2        $2,718.26 matures 1/6/00
  CD #3        $2,175.23 matures 2/27/00
