Hidden Hill Observatory key change underway
Observatory Director Chuck Grant has begun the dark sky site key exchange. The 90-day window for swapping your outdated key for a new one began on July 1. The easiest way to sign the dark sky site agreement and receive your new key, is to come to the July, August, or September general meeting, or any of those months' planning meetings. If you wish an exchange by mail, write to Chuck at our P.O. box, at the address at the bottom of this page.
Still wanted -- See the plea on page 6
TVS is still looking for a few good astronomers! In particular, your club needs help with the newsletter (also see the following club note), archivist/historian tasks, and coordination of a fun and introductory program for new members.
The board hopes that one of you out there is interested in researching and compiling the history of TVS. We have boxes of old newsletters, press clippings, and planning meeting minutes, all of which contain historical nuggets about the club. Any data miners out there? Our proposed "newbie program" also needs a champion. Newcomers to amateur astronomy learn faster and stay involved longer when they have mentors to explain the more arcane aspects of this hobby. So, we are prepared to offer the glorified title of Master Mentor to the member willing to coordinate this effort. (Continued on page 4)

Tri Valley Stargazers holds this space in anticipation of a new production sponsor. Do you work for a firm that would be willing to support amateur astronomy in the public interest?
