Astronomy Day selected
Bay Area observatories and planetaria now agree that they will celebrate Astronomy Day 1999 on May 22. We'll keep you posted as plans unfold.
Librarian's report
Chris Cody relates that the delinquency rate is reduced, meaning that some favorite books and tapes are once again available for loan. He is also adding spine labels, so that you can easily identify books in the racks.
We have purchased multiple copies of the Observer's Handbook 1999. Now, you should be able to find a copy whenever you need one.
Jim Brown and Chris worked this month building a pair of low, rolling library carts to move the books from the storeroom into the church for meetings. No more heavy lifting!

Observatory director's report
Chuck Grant is hard at work on the Jack Marling Telescope, the club's 17.5-inch instrument. Chuck moved the scope from Hidden Hill Observatory, and is fitting it to its new mount. He will undertake a general overhaul of the scope as well. We expect that it will be remounted and ready for use by the end of this month. (Continued on Page 8)
