Club News and Notes

Welcome, new members

Those intriguing and lovely spring galaxies must have worked their magic particularly well this year. TVS gained four new sets of new members last month alone. At the "summer" barbecue, please introduce yourself and help the following folks feel welcome: Tom Meier and Family, Leon Aslan, Steve Reisen and Family, and Brian Boothman.

Thank you for your patience

The church thanks TVS for its continued support and patience during the sanctuary remodeling and the annual yard sale. The next few months should be much less hectic at the facility.

Barcode benefits for TVS

How would you like to put money in the TVS treasury every time you do your food and household shopping? Sound too good to be true? Well, it is not! Albertson's grocery store chain offers a Community Partners benefits program for local 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organizations. TVS is eligible to participate in this unique fundraising opportunity.

Club president Chuck Grant has completed the application paperwork requested by Albertson's, and the club will be assigned its own barcoded cards. A member simply presents the TVS card for scanning at any time during checkout. The cashier scans the card and returns it to the member. TVS will receive a cash credit from the store in an amount proportional to the total dollar purchases made by members. Chuck will explain this program thoroughly following the barbecue on June 8. He also expects to have cards ready to give to members that evening.

TVS logowear -- just in time for summer

Lucky TVS board members will model the first logowear polo shirts at the next few club functions. Treasurer Mike Anderson just received the first shipment of these distinctive wardrobe items. Of course, board members will purchase their individual shirts, and interested members may do likewise. We thank Debbie Dyke and Mike and Marianne Anderson for all of the time and effort they have put into the logowear program. We expect to offer a range of apparel choices appropriate for cool-weather observing. So, look for the TVS logo at the barbecue on June 8.
