Looking for leadership
This month our long-time treasurer Gene Nassar moves to his new home-plus-observatory in Southern California. As this newsletter goes to press, we still lack a replacement for Gene, and the fallback plan is not a pretty one.
California incorporation require-ments demand that TVS state its elected president, secretary, treasur-er, and directors. The office of vice president need not be filled to protect our incorporated status. VP Alane Alchorn is willing to assume the treasurer's responsibilities, provided another club member will step into the vacant VP slot.
Thus far, our only volunteer is Chuck Grant, last year's VP, and our current observatory director, and loaner scope program manager. Obviously, TVS needs a few more folks who are willing to help out.

The checkbook changes daily this time of year, as renewals arrive. On December 14, our status was as shown below. The value of CD #3 is stated as of its January 6, 1999 maturity date. The CD will roll over in this new amount.

We thank member Herb Quick for supporting TVS as the newest Patron Member. Herb has been extremely supportive of our activities at Hidden Hill Observatory, and we appreciate this further donation on his part.
